We are big fans of working with cool people and helping them make cool updates to their spaces. When our good friend Darby Doyle (OG food/drink/SLC blogger) reached out with the intention of adding a home bar, we were all for it. Her partially renovated rambler had some mid-century vibes and needed a “wow factor” wet bar for entertaining, tasting, and showcasing her extensive booze collection.
What started as a closet space was soon taken down to the studs to allow for a primary bath makeover, as well as the addition of the so-desired place to belly up. We opted for a stripey, mid-century-looking Formica for the cabinetry with floating shelves above. A super cool slab of limestone (full of fossils) served as the countertop, and some punchy paint and orb pendants completed the look.
For the bathroom, we went with a more subdued vibe, but kept the same mid-century undertones through the use of flagstone floors.
