When we were first tasked with this bathroom remodel, the big question was whether we keep the original retro sea foam green tub and tile. It was in perfect condition, and one of those rare design elements we feel folks are too quick to discard. Our answer: Keep the tub.We created a not-so-matchy-matchy color palette, by keeping with the cool tones but opting to tone down the deal with shades of blue and pops of black. The wallpaper also helped marry the blues and greens together in a subtle way. We replaced the shower hardware and splurged for some custom colored faucets that really are the show stoppers. The zellige tile on the floor is in a dramatic basket weave pattern using multiple colors and sizes. Because it was such a small area, and low traffic (as a guest bathroom) we felt comfortable using this organic material on the floor. For the basement bathroom we used warm wood, soft curves, and simple silhouettes - this serene bathroom is all about balance. We paired two tone mosaic tiles with vertical paneling for a cozy, spa-like retreat that feels both grounded and elevated.Moral of the story, you really can have it all!
